Gurren Lagann Review

Short Review:
When I was first introduced to this anime, I’ll admit I was surprised and some what put off. I’m the sort of annoying fan girl who wants “pretty” art work. In other words, I like magical, hair raising beauty with depth and sparkles. However, I was delighted to find after watching a few minutes of it it did not lack depth in the plot, character builds and did not disappoint in characters. Some heart breaking scenes and memories, this was a truly great anime. If you’ve seen my comments you’ll know I’m optimistic with anime but rest assured, this is a great one! Recommended!

Extension:
In the future, the world is controlled by the Spiral Master, also known as Lordgenome. His power has lead to the forcing of underground civilisations in which he forces all of mankind to live in below-surface towns which never see daylight. Simon, a young digger, unearths a drill shaped key or ‘Core Drill’ which leads him to a small mecha. This mecha resembles that of a ‘Gunman’. His older brother figure, Kamina, is over the moon at Simons willingness to join Team Gurren- or rather feels obligated to- and so joins him on his adventure when a giant gunman crashes through the roof following Yoko.
The trio venture above the surface, fighting off gunmen armed by beastmen from Lordgenome’s army. That’s a summary…of the beginning. You can’t stray away from the beginning without stepping onto juicy spoiler ground. Honestly, it’s one of the best series I’ve ever seen. Don’t be discouraged by the style! You may hear rumours about season 2, it’s basically episode 17 onwards. Damn it’s good!
